A decadent Salted Caramel Earthquake Cake that combines rich flavors and a delightful texture, reminiscent of a fancy bakery treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until well combined.
  3. Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  4. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter, followed by half of the chocolate chips and nuts.
  5. Pour the remaining batter over the top, then repeat the layering with the remaining caramel sauce, chocolate chips, and nuts.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool, then dust with powdered sugar and sprinkle with sea salt before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
